Direct message the job poster from Ellerston Capital We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Financial Accountant to join our finance team. You will work closely with senior management to support strategic decision-making, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and continuously improve financial processes. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily accounting operations including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations. Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all financial data. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including management accounts and variance analyses. Prepare statutory financial statements in compliance with IFRS and Australian Accounting Standards. Lead the preparation and submission of BAS, IAS, FBT, and other statutory returns. Audit & Compliance Manage the annual external audit process, including preparation of audit files, liaison with auditors, and resolution of audit queries. Ensure compliance with all internal controls, corporate governance policies, and regulatory requirements. Cash Flow Management Oversee cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and liquidity planning. Monitor accounts receivable and payable, ensuring timely collection and payment cycles. Process vendor invoices, staff reimbursements, and client payments with accuracy and efficiency. Business Support & Analysis Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term financial planning activities. Provide financial insights to support management decision‑making and business strategy. Support process improvements and system enhancements to improve accuracy and efficiency across the finance function. Other Duties Support senior management with ad hoc financial analysis, projects, and administrative tasks as required. Contribute to the development of financial policies, procedures, and internal control frameworks. Qualifications & Skills CA or CPA qualified with a minimum of 2+ years’ post‑qualification experience, preferably within financial services, funds management, or investment advisory. Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and Australian financial reporting standards. Working knowledge of Australian taxation requirements including GST, FBT, and income tax. Proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, data analysis). Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with senior stakeholders. High attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills. A proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
