SQL Developer (Business Intelligence) 6 Month Contract with possible extension | Brisbane CBD | Hybrid About the Role We’re recruiting for a highly skilled SQL Developer (Business Intelligence) to join a large data and reporting team within a government organisation. This role is pivotal in developing, enhancing and maintaining the department’s enterprise data warehouse and BI products that inform education strategy, policy and performance. You’ll design robust data models, optimise performance and deliver actionable insights through well-structured and scalable data solutions. The position offers the chance to make a real impact on data-driven decision-making in a supportive and flexible work environment. Key Responsibilities Design and build fit-for-purpose data models using SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio and related Microsoft technologies. Develop and maintain ETL processes, data warehouse solutions and BI assets. Conduct QA checks to ensure data quality, integrity and lineage. Perform code optimisation, performance tuning and query enhancements. Undertake unit and system testing of all developments. Utilise Azure DevOps for deployment management and environment control. Maintain technical documentation, metadata repositories and system records. Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to translate requirements into scalable BI solutions. About You Proven experience in SQL development and data warehouse design. Expertise with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio, SSIS, SSAS, and DAX/MDX. Strong understanding of ETL architecture, performance optimisation and QA testing. Analytical mindset with the ability to transform unstructured data into relational models. Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams. Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment. Highly Regarded Experience working in large or government data environments. Familiarity with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and data modelling best practices.
