Head of Learning Area - Health and Physical Education Add expected salary to your profile for insights John Wollaston Anglican Community School (JWACS) is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative educational leader to join our future-focused school community as Head of Learning Area – Health and Physical Education. This is an ongoing, full time (1.0 FTE) position commencing in 2026. In this middle leadership role, you will report to the Dean of Teaching and Learning and lead the Health and Physical Education learning area. The position includes dedicated time release for leadership responsibilities alongside your teaching duties. We are looking for an inspiring and highly skilled Health and Physical Education professional with a proven track record of excellence in teaching. The ability to teach ATAR Physical Education Studies and/or Outdoor Education will be highly regarded. Selection Criteria We are seeking an individual who: Actively supports the Mission, Vision and Ethos and Core Values of AngliSchools and John Wollaston Anglican Community School. Actively supports and promotes a strong child safety culture. Demonstrates expertise in the content and structure of the Health and Physical Education curriculum, including contemporary theory, evidence-informed practice, and effective approaches to monitoring and assessing student achievement. Has the ability to lead, mentor and support staff across the Health and Physical Education learning area, fostering collaboration, professional growth and high-quality teaching practices. Demonstrates the capacity to model excellence in teaching, showcasing the professional attributes, classroom practice and instructional expertise expected of a highly accomplished practitioner. Applies curriculum differentiation and task modification to meet the diverse educational needs of students. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of contemporary pastoral care issues affecting students in the School, local community and broader society, with a commitment to supporting student wellbeing and maintaining a safe, inclusive learning environment. Demonstrates strong administrative and organisational capabilities, including the effective coordination of key school events such as swimming and athletics carnivals, alongside excellent written and verbal communication skills and sound time management. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, with an inclusive and approachable manner, strong listening abilities, and the capacity to build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with students, staff, parents and carers. Bachelor of Education or a degree qualification supported by a Post Graduate Diploma of Education. Registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia. Hold a valid Working with Children Check or be willing to obtain.
