POSITION PURPOSE The Food & Beverage Captain will coordinate the café services for Councils leisure facilities. They are responsible for the café services, including staff development, customer service, menu design, stock control, financial performance and compliance. The Captain will lead a team of café attendants that will deliver high-quality service and build relationships with customers, leading to repeat visits and transactions. They will work with other teams to maximise sales opportunities. The Captain will ensure products are effectively promoted to customers, maximising revenue. They will be relentless in delivering outstanding service, exceeding our customers’ expectations in every transaction and building quality relationships with customers. They will take pride in our café services, ensuring that all areas are well stocked and presented. They will ensure regular cleaning of all preparation, serving, and customer areas. This position will work relentlessly to implement the Aligned Leisure purpose of connecting to thrive and win, values of AWARE, DISCIPLINED, RELENTLESS and UNITED, and associated behaviours throughout the entire team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for leading and managing café and vending services across all active Manningham sites, including Aquarena, Mullum Mullum Stadium, DISC, and any sites with vending machines. Lead café and catering services across Manningham leisure facilities, delivering high-quality customer experiences aligned with strategic and annual business plans, including Sustainable Living initiatives. Design, update and promote menus, actively seeking customer feedback and responding to service and quality insights. Manage supplier relationships, stock control systems, ordering and product levels to ensure efficiency, accuracy and minimal waste. Oversee staffing, including recruitment, training, inductions, rosters and performance management, ensuring appropriate coverage for anticipated customer demand. Monitor financial performance, including pricing, cost control, profitability and monthly reporting, while proactively identifying new revenue and growth opportunities. Ensure compliance with food safety and other operational standards, maintaining clean, safe and professional service areas at all times. Work regular service shifts to support café and catering delivery, including food and beverage preparation, sales and customer engagement. Complete and maintain all required administrative records, checklists and operational procedures. Health and Safety of all staff and customers Maintain an understanding of all relevant aspects of the Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Management Systems. Monitor compliance to policies and procedures. Implement and document hazard and environment inspections, risk assessments, risk controls and corrective actions. Ensure health and safety is discussed with all staff, on every shift. Risk assess work instructions to identify any hazards and act to rectify any identified risks. Ensure the dissemination of safety information to staff relevant to their roles and responsibilities. Ensure all employees and contractors are inducted and receive regular training as required. Outstanding service delivery to all customers and stakeholders Aligned Leisure will be renowned for delivering outstanding service and providing memorable experiences for our customers. This role will be relentless in identifying opportunities to provide outstanding service and will continuously ask themselves, "How would I want a member of my family treated in this situation?". Lead and deliver on our customer charter and service standards. The Food & Beverage Captain must be available to work a mixture of early morning, daytime, evening and weekend shifts. They may from time to time be required to undertake other tasks as directed by the Head of Customer Experience & Marketing or Leisure Manager. Essential Qualifications and Experience Food Handling Supervisors Certificate. The position will be subject to relevant pre‑employment checks and must maintain a current working with children check. The successful applicant must hold or be willing to attain first aid and CPR qualifications. Personal Attributes Enjoys hospitality services.
