Medical Laboratory Scientist – Serology / Virology NSW Health Pathology invites a skilled Hospital Scientist to join our Serology and Virology labs at Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick, Sydney. The role delivers infectious disease testing across NSW and Australia, including testing organ and tissue donors for infectious diseases before transplantation. About The Opportunity Temporary Full Time up to December 2027, 38 hours per week, $76,378.47 – $108,941.55 per annum plus superannuation. Location: Prince of Wales Hospital. What You’ll Be Doing Responsible for delivering a range of operational laboratory activities, coordinating and providing scientific and technical training, and reviewing, developing and managing laboratory practices to ensure compliance with operational standards, quality standards and continual process improvement. Qualifications Bachelor degree or higher in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent, with pathology relevant subjects. Demonstrated knowledge and experience delivering pathology services, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems, Quality Control Systems and computer programs such as Microsoft Office. Customer‑focused approach with well‑developed interpersonal skills, oral and written communication, report writing, statistical evaluation of scientific data and effective communication of policies and procedures. Ability to work responsibly and efficiently, managing competing priorities to meet deadlines. Team environment experience, working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes and contributing to a range of diagnostic skills relevant to the laboratory. Initiative, problem‑solving and analytical skills, applying established principles in a pathology laboratory and investigating and resolving general and complex issues within the laboratory environment.
