Townsville City, Österreich Energy Queensland Vollzeit

Competitive salary |strong 14.75% Super | Career Advancement A true hybrid working arrangement that offers a great work / life balance Opportunity to sit in Cairns or Townsville Energy Queensland (EQL) is looking for a PowerStation Electrical Design Engineer who is passionate about making a positive impact. We are growing rapidly and, as part of the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan (QEJP), are actively helping to advance the energy transition towards net zero. Are you ready to join a team that has a direct positive impact on the state by delivering renewable energy to Queensland’s most isolated locations? Now is your chance. By joining the team, you will contribute to the next chapter of the renewable energy transition and be at the forefront of the technical changes as they occur in the state’s most isolated networks. THE WHAT, THE WHERE, & THE WHY Energy Queensland's Decarbonisation program is transitioning our remote embedded generation sites to 90% Renewable Energy by 2040 with a combination of solar and batteries to replace existing centralised diesel power stations. Currently, Ergon owns and operates 33 isolated power stations with standalone electricity networks that supply communities too remote to connect to the national grid. As a PowerStation Electrical Design Engineer within the Remote & Embedded Generation Design Team, you will be providing engineering advice and designs to stakeholders across Energy Queensland and customers. You will actively engage and collaborate with a wide range of SMEs & Stakeholders and be involved with technical discussions with customers and their technical representatives to deliver high quality designs for EQL’s Isolated Networks. In short, this is a true technical position where you will be involved in the design, installation, and commissioning support for a variety of unique and interesting remote power station and decarbonisation projects, servicing communities from remote Western Queensland all the way through to Cape York and the Torres Strait. You’ll be providing expert engineering advice, calculations / estimates, reports, sketches and analysis for the provision of safe reliable and affordable power generation into remote networks, as well as integrating new generation sources, energy storage and demand management technologies. You’ll play a key role in standardisation of power station designs across the state as we incorporate this technology. What’s in it for you? Not only will you be making a true positive difference to a cleaner future, you’ll be exposed to the latest emerging technologies as you are involved with moving from traditional diesel power to hybrid power stations which utilise a combination of diesel generation, solar and battery energy storage systems. This could be you – picture this : You start work at 7 : 00am and finish at 3.30pm. You clock off and don’t check your work phone until you get in the next morning. You pick your kids (furry or human) up and spend quality time with them. You get home, and the sun is still up so you can go for a walk. You work a 9-day fortnight and have every second Friday off, allowing you to get a haircut and take your mum for a coffee. You work from home at least once a week, and know that you work within a team who know you have a life outside of the office, so you don’t have to feel guilty for not working past your finish time or not checking your phone on weekends. Your supportive and high performing team, yearly pay increases, secure employment, and meaningful projects make work even better. The position can be located at either our Townsville or Cairns locations. For more information about the position, click on the position description at bottom of the page.
