Equity and Diversity Support Officer Base pay range: A$30.00/hr - A$33.00/hr Position status: Casual Location: ActivateUTS | Student Life Office | 745 Harris Street UTS Bldg 4 Level 2, Ultimo, NSW 2007 Reports to: Club Training Lead, Student Life (Development & EDI) About the role ActivateUTS is seeking an Equity & Diversity Support Officer (EDSO) to assist in delivering equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) initiatives across student clubs. You will support club executives with training, resources, and guidance to promote safe, culturally aware, and inclusive leadership. In this role, you will help develop EDI-focused programs, resources, and student engagement activities, monitor trends relating to student experiences, and contribute to building a respectful and inclusive campus community. Key responsibilities Assist in delivering EDI-related training sessions and developing inclusive resources. Guide club executives on inclusive practices, accessibility considerations, and wellbeing initiatives. Provide information and referral pathways for students experiencing barriers to equity or inclusion. Assist in drafting EDI policies, guides, training materials, and support communications such as newsletters and online content. Support student engagement activities promoting diversity, belonging, and intercultural understanding. Evaluate EDI initiatives by documenting outcomes and suggesting improvements. Collaborate with Student Life and ActivateUTS teams to ensure consistency across programs. Undertake additional tasks as directed, adhering to ActivateUTS policies and values. About you – essential skills & experience Previous experience in a student volunteer role, club executive position, or similar student leadership capacity. Awareness of inclusion, equity, cultural diversity, and accessibility principles. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to engage respectfully with students from diverse backgrounds. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organisational and administrative capabilities. Initiative, reliability, and ability to work independently and collaboratively. Understanding of youth culture, student needs, and cultural diversity within a university context. Desirable Experience in diversity and inclusion projects, community engagement, or student wellbeing initiatives. Mental Health First Aid accreditation or willingness to obtain. Experience delivering training or facilitating group activities. Qualifications or studies in social sciences, community development, education, equity studies, or related fields.
