The People & Culture function is commercially aligned, forward‑thinking, and playing a critical role in shaping the future of work through investment in technology, data, and service excellence. As part of this broader transformation, a new role has been created to lead people services, innovation, and HR systems. THE ROLE This newly created role reports directly to the Chief People Officer and sits on the People & Culture Leadership Team, bringing together HR operations, payroll compliance, HR technology, and service delivery with a clear mandate to uplift capability, embed automation, and drive continuous improvement across the employee experience. Leading a team of 14 across Sydney and Melbourne, you will oversee the operation and optimisation of a sophisticated HR tech stack, including Workday, Dayforce, and emerging AI tools, while ensuring high-quality, compliant delivery of payroll and core people services, increasing self-service adoption, optimising the service desk, and enhancing platform performance, security, and functionality. You will identify opportunities to leverage automation and AI, build internal capability in service design and process improvement, manage key vendor relationships and significant contracts, and provide strong leadership to subject matter experts and operational specialists. This is a highly visible role with extensive cross‑functional engagement across Technology, Finance, Legal, Risk, and Executive stakeholders. THE CRITERIA To be successful you will have a strong track record in operational excellence and innovation across complex, regulated environments. You’ll combine strategic thinking with hands‑on leadership, bringing deep knowledge of Australian payroll, compliance, service delivery, and HR technology. You’ll be confident leading transformation, uplifting services, managing risk, and partnering with senior stakeholders across multiple sites. This role suits someone who enjoys solving complex operational challenges while keeping a future‑focused lens, balancing process rigour with an innovation mindset. Ideally with Financial services experience, what matters most is the ability to lead in a governance‑heavy environment while driving meaningful progress.
