Join to apply for the Associate Product Manager role at SPX FLOW, Inc. 2 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants Job Summary The purpose of this role is to achieve sustained sales growth, profitability, and improve customer satisfaction for the assigned N&HS brands product offering. The Associate Product Manager role is intended to be a development or “stepping-stone” role prior to moving into a more senior Product Manager role. An Associate Product Manager is typically assigned to work closely with Global Product Managers and to provide support for global growth initiatives and to lead specific projects and/or own portions of the wider product offering; examples include driving specific initiatives to grow products in emerging end‑markets/applications/geographic regions, owning the profit and loss (P&L) statement for a particular product offering, or leading the product management activities for a new product launch or VAVE cost reduction project. The role is expected to support activity required to achieve product line targets through participation in strategic planning, value proposition definition, market research, forecasting, new product development initiation, and product lifecycle management. The role requires activity at both a strategic and tactical level across all relevant markets and regions. The incumbent will work as part of the cross‑functional team including new product development (NPD) engineering, commercial sales, operations, supply chain, and finance. Success in this role requires a willingness to build knowledge of market conditions and customer needs, combined with a willingness to gain deep understanding of the features, functions, and benefits of the product offering. The incumbent will engage in and demonstrate a culture of ownership, innovation, continuous improvement, and bias toward action to deliver results. Principal Duties And Responsibilities Product Strategy & Planning Gather and analyze market, customer, and competitor intelligence to identify and quantify opportunities for growth and margin expansion in existing, new, and emerging markets Align product strategies and offering to 80/20 principles: Grow Quad 1, Eliminate Quad 4 Gather voice of customer (VOC) insights from key stakeholders Define value proposition and product differentiation to provide SPX FLOW with a competitive advantage Participate in business case development to achieve revenue growth and profitability targets Drive technology and product roadmap initiatives to achieve growth plans Collaborate internally and externally to document new product specification/requirements Review list prices of competitors to advise on pricing strategies or large quote opportunities Communicate clearly and consistently to internal stakeholders on all updates to strategy or direction New Product Development Support the development of plans for new product launches using appropriate tools and templates Manage product launches through defined development stage gates Support after action reviews following a product launch to capture relevant learning and share across the team Product Lifecycle Management Support the development of product lifecycle management roadmaps for products already in the market Support value engineering projects (VAVE), product extensions and next generation product initiatives Embrace 80/20 analysis principles and look for opportunities to apply to existing product offering Rationalize products as directed; manage transitions with clear written and verbal communication Collaborate with research and development (R&D), sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and operations to develop product definitions responsive to customer needs and marketing opportunities Product & Market Training and Promotion Support and maintain a product training plan Assist with development of promotional strategies based on marketing research and competitive analysis Coordinate with Marketing Communications to facilitate market collateral strategies Support promotion of the product externally with customers, partners, & media as needed Deliver product training (internal & external) Emphasize health and safety issues to always align with statutory rules and product-specific requirements Support communication to senior leadership (meetings, presentations) regarding margin performance and potential actions, while supporting senior leadership in creating margin messages for the field Metrics Product line order intake compared to annual operating plan (AOP) targets Product line profitability (gross margin) compared to AOP targets Price realization New product vitality index (sales of products launched within last 5 years) Customer satisfaction: net promoter score (NPS) Execution of defined initiatives product training, promotion activities, etc. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Creative problem solving and strong analytical skills demonstrating ability to identify root causes of problems; generate and evaluate creative alternative solutions; implement problem resolutions quickly and effectively with fact‑based decisions Demonstrated ability to influence others, especially those in other roles and departments Robust interpersonal skills, with evidence of consistent teamwork and collaboration behaviors Conceptual thinking skills to recognize and capitalize on both pricing and terms & conditions (T&Cs) as well as negotiation patterns based on repeated deals against competitors Willingness to challenge status quo and promote change with influencing skills necessary to build field/senior management consensus around bid activities and strategic direction Strong communication skills to develop and deliver compelling rationale and motivate sales and cross‑functional teams Demonstrated effort to learn quickly and gain a deep understanding of SPX FLOW’s markets and product offering Willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing customer, market, and business needs Self‑starter and motivator, ability to work independently without regular management direction Ability to actively listen to and manage stakeholders across the business and influence across multi‑functional teams & global regions Education And Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field 2+ years successful experience in a role at a business‑to‑business (B2B) company within an industrial market Good technical competency in the area of the N&HS product portfolio Demonstrated interest and curiosity about products and the business models for product companies Demonstrated ability to work independently and build collaborative relationships with cross‑functional teams Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated interest and passion for developing and implementing global product initiatives Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
