Job Description Hume City Council is one of Australia’s fastest growing and culturally diverse councils. To assist in providing high quality, tidy and safe Parks and Reserves within the Hume municipality. What you’ll be doing: Under programmed and reactive park maintenance duties. Conduct maintenance and repair of various hard assets and infrastructure in parks such as, but not limited to, reserve fencing, furniture, shelters, gravel paths, retaining walls, park signage, etc. Operate plant and equipment relevant to the park asset management task and ensure it is maintained to a high level. Perform minor reactive pruning, branch collection and mulching works, minor turf preparation of sports fields, parks and nature strips, and minor soft and hard landscaping works. Undertake other park asset management tasks commensurate with skills to ensure a high level of park and reserve presentation. Conduct minor soft and hard landscaping rectification works in a team environment. Assist in constructing, installing, maintaining and renewing minor parks assets, including retaining walls, park furniture, bollards, fences, signs, paving and hard pavement soil edge levels. Assist in maintenance and development of various parks and reserves and other designated areas including minor maintaining and making safety of fences and gates, repairing or replacing bollards, signage, damaged seats and the painting of shelters and other park assets. Assist in the removal of fallen, damaged trees and branches, when required, to ensure high levels of park and reserve presentation. The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role: Knowledge of and the ability to safely operate heavy vehicles and other plant equipment. Demonstrable knowledge of pruning techniques. Knowledge in gathering performance indicators for benchmarking. Ability to gain cooperation and communicate verbally with a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated ability to contribute and work in a team environment as a team player and as an individual. Ability to deal with difficulty Required Certifications & Qualifications: The following qualifications and experience are required for the position: Certificate III in Landscape or other relevant qualification and/experience relevant to park asset maintenance tasks or commensurate on the job training. Truck License – minimum MR license. Demonstrable experience with the use of powered hand tools. Loader License desirable. Forklift License desirable. Chainsaw users certificate of competency desirable. Current driver’s license. Why Hume City Council?
