The Team Aboriginal Education Services (AES), within the Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP), leads efforts to improve educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners across Tasmania. AES provides strategic guidance, culturally responsive resources, and professional learning to build the capability of educators and school communities. Its services aim to embed culturally safe practices, strengthen partnerships with Aboriginal communities, and promote understanding of Aboriginal histories and cultures. AES supports schools in creating inclusive environments where Aboriginal learners are known, safe, well, and learning, aligning its work with national priorities such as Closing the Gap and measuring progress through data-informed strategies and community engagement. About the Role The Aboriginal Wellbeing Team Leader is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities, support and advice provided by Aboriginal Education Services staff in Tasmanianschools and Child and Family Learning Centre’s (CFLC’s). They are required to operationalise the overarching strategic direction and initiatives for Aboriginal Education Services to ensure their effective implementation. The position fosters collaboration within and across regional teams and engages respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families. This includes the provision of culturally appropriate resources and inclusive learning environments that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people and their culture and actively promotes their engagement, attainment and successful transitions from birth-year12.
