The EPA Experience See the impact in the communities we live in: at EPA you see your work first-hand Range of internal working groups, networks and volunteering opportunities On-the-job training for a wide range of environmental roles Flexible start and finish times, as well as compressed work week options About the role Reporting to the Senior Policy Officer, the Policy Officer is a member of a team responsible for delivering high-quality policy and regulation advice, projects, and initiatives in relation to water, air, and noise. This role will focus on, but not be limited to, the designated Live Music Precincts noise requirements review project. In this role you will Develop, maintain, monitor, and report on project plans, facilitating timely informed decision making on key project issues by stakeholders and project governance, appropriately escalating risks, and issues to senior management as required. Contribute to the development of key regulatory positions to inform drafting of instruments and operational approaches, including assessing impact of proposed regulatory outcomes in line with good practice and government policy. Provide evidence‑based, useful, and timely advice to internal and external stakeholders, including EPA executives, ministerial offices, public sector peers, and external organisations. Support the effective implementation of legislation and regulatory policy by developing clear communication, guidance and supporting materials for internal and external stakeholders. Skills and experience Previous experience working in Government in a similar role, preferably for a regulator or in the music regulation industry. Experience developing, implementing and evaluating regulatory policy, instruments or strategy, in a public policy context is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills is mandatory. Commitment to supporting a healthy team culture. A proactive risk-based approach to problem‑solving and improvement. A relevant tertiary degree and/or post graduate qualifications in public policy, environmental science, law, planning, economics, humanities, or a related discipline is desirable.
