Lead Youth Worker - Albert Park Flexible School Fixed-term, Full-time - commencing as soon as can be negotiated End date : 11 December 2026 School Officer Level 6 About the Organisation Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) Flexible Schools Ltd educates over 2,200 young people in 22 Flexible Learning Schools (12 based in Queensland and 10 other schools across Australia) and serves young people who experience complex educational, social or psychological situations which demand unique responses. We enable young people to engage in education in a supported learning environment through a methodology based on trauma informed practice, in which the principles of operation (Honesty, Respect, Participation, Safe & Legal) are embedded. About the Role The Lead Youth Worker reports to the Area Principal or delegate. The Lead Youth Worker leads the youth worker team and supports: Effective learning and teaching programs for young people in both middle and senior phases of secondary education. Physical health and emotional wellbeing of the young people. Development and implementation of the schools’ strategic and operational plans regarding the function of your role as youth worker. Maintenance of a supportive and inclusive school environment. Relationships with the school, staff, students and their families, industry, and community organisations in relation to planning, actions and achieving outcomes with a particular focus on your area of expertise. Young people to engage with relevant external agencies through appropriate referral pathways and stakeholder meetings. To read the full position description please CLICK HERE About You – Essential A Working with Children Clearance Notice Current driver’s licence (essential) or Light Rigid license (highly desirable) Previous experience in the youth sector with knowledge and understanding of the local First Nations communities In-depth experience in working in EREA Flexible Schools as a Youth Worker and experience in leading programs within EREA Flexible Schools (i.e Electives, Outings, School Events, Practice Meetings) Highly Desirable An understanding of and commitment to principles of social justice Understanding of current youth work practice, trends and issues in service provision to marginalised young people particularly within the alternate education sector Sound level of verbal and written communication skills, including participating in meeting processes, report writing and negotiation skills Skills in computing (especially word processing, Internet) and skills, or the ability to develop skills in database.
