Finance Manager – 12‑month contract (Maternity Cover) Makers Lab, Millers Point, New South Wales, Australia. Commences February 2026. Four days per week in office, three days flexible. Role Financial Operations – oversee all local financial operations, including accounts receivable and payable, bank reconciliations, job management, cash flow optimisation, financial risk control, cost reduction and compliance. Responsibilities Manage Accounts Receivable (≈30 invoices/month), aged debtors, client setup, invoicing and cash collection. Manage Trade Creditors (≈20 invoices/month), supplier setup, invoice processing, credit card statement upload, weekly pay‑run. Perform bank and general ledger reconciliations (including inter‑company). Create, reconcile and close job numbers. Optimise cash flow and trade working capital. Identify and manage financial risks; implement controls and mitigation strategies. Drive cost‑reduction initiatives, improve operational efficiency, ensure compliance with group policies, legislation, and accounting standards. Revenue forecasting with department heads and CEO (fortnightly). Assist CEO with P&L, annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasts. Maintain weekly cash‑flow forecast model. Oversee month‑end close process, accruals, payroll journals, fixed assets, balance sheet reconciliations, foreign‑currency revaluations. Review bi‑monthly payroll and statutory lodgements from external firm. Prepare monthly board reports with variance commentary. Prepare client profitability and rate‑card analyses. Support external accountants with annual statements, income tax return and fringe benefits tax return. Manage year‑end audit process, provide workpapers, respond to auditors. Ensure statutory obligations and lodgements are timely. Assist CEO with financial modelling and scenario analysis. Collaborate with departments to provide financial perspective on decisions and projects. Roll out reporting improvements, systems, templates, visualisations to increase efficiency. Analyse financial data and prepare comprehensive reports for CEO, board and stakeholders. Qualifications Qualified accountant (CPA, CA or equivalent). Minimum five years post‑qualification experience. Agency, commercial or business finance experience in fast‑paced environments, preferably multinational. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to liaise with staff, leaders, clients, suppliers and international colleagues. Strong stakeholder engagement and financial information communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to process and business improvement. Commercial acumen in accounting, KPI tracking and project financials. Strong deadline management and friendly demeanour. Inclusive behaviours and appreciation of diversity. Technical expertise with digital solutions. Self‑driven, proactive, autonomous attitude. Excellent time management, prioritisation and problem‑solving skills.
