Our core activities include: Growing innovative and competitive businesses, industries, and regions Investing in science and technology Strengthening the resources sector Our team is part of the Procurement and Contract Management (PCM) group within the Chief Finance Officer Division (CFOD). PCM supports compliant, effective procurement and contract management across the department through three distinct teams: Procurement and Contract Management Support Services , Data & Systems , and Strategy, Governance and Policy . What you will do Manage end‑to‑end procurement processes in accordance with the PGPA Act and Commonwealth procurement rules. Provide professional advice on procurement strategies, risk management, and compliance. Prepare and review procurement documentation and records for processing and reporting activities. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate reporting. Support continuous improvement initiatives and mentor less experienced staff. Complete data entry in procurement systems (e.g., TechOne) and reporting platforms (AusTender, GrantConnect). Support routine reporting requirements, including contract variations and tender documentation uploads. Address procurement queries and raise complex issues to senior staff. Provide administrative support for procurement and reporting functions. Identify opportunities to streamline processes and promote APS values and accountability. Experience required Demonstrated experience in managing procurement activities within a government or comparable environment. Knowledge of the PGPA Act, CPRs, and financial frameworks. Experience in departmental reporting. Qualifications No formal qualifications are required, although a qualification in a related field would be beneficial. Key skills and personal attributes Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established processes. Sound understanding of procurement legislation, policies, and frameworks. Professional judgement and ability to manage competing priorities. Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Willingness to learn and apply procurement policies and procedures. Analytical and problem‑solving capabilities to mitigate risks. Collaborative approach and ability to build positive working relationships. Capacity to work independently and meet deadlines with limited supervision. Eligibility Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold, or be able to obtain, a baseline security clearance. Flexible working arrangements The team is located in Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, or Melbourne and offers flexible or remote work options on a case‑by‑case basis.
