We are looking for a Product Design engineer to design products, processes & systems for automotive accessories. These designs will need to comply with the relevant regulations, standards, specifications, customer requirements, company guidelines and engineering best practices. This includes, but is not limited to, the creation and organisation of 3D CAD, 2D drawings, engineering calculations, Bill of Materials and any other documentation required to ensure efficient and effective communication of product selection and manufacturing/finishing detail & methods. Our Design Engineers maintain close contact with the Sales, Production & Purchasing teams to ensure the finished product is built as intended and that all issues/concerns are addressed quickly. Responsibilities Responsible for developing innovative solutions to suit the customer, internal & federal/state design requirements. Overseeing projects from concept to completion Responsible for creation and maintenance of detailed designs by way of 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks software. Ensuring data is filed correctly and obsolete data is appropriately archived Responsible for creation and maintenance of other documents required to detail engineering calculations, Bill of Materials, processes & procedures Responsible for effectively & promptly communicating designs, releases & changes, as well as promptly answering technical concerns Responsible for ensuring finished product is as per the intended & documented design, by way of regular inspections during the build process Responsible for overseeing any testing of products, ensuring testing methods & details are as per requirements and that results are acceptable Assisting with the creation of operating manuals for products Assist in customer communication ensuring internal and external stakeholders are provided accurate and on time engineering details Participation in research and development projects Requirements A formal qualification in engineering, B.E. Mech Eng preferred Strong experience with Solidworks 3D CAD package Experience as a Mechanical Product Design Engineer, preferably in the automotive product sector. 4x4 &/or off‑road product experience a plus. A passion for the 4x4/Off‑road space and an understand of how products in this space are used. Strong Technical aptitude. Knowledge of sheet metal, structural steel, fabrication, joining, painting & basic automotive electrics.
