Band 6 – starting at $97,323 per annum (plus super). Work life balance – 4 on 4 off. Work 10 hours per day for 4 days, then enjoy 4 days off. About the Role The Community Safety Officer (Coast Patrol) promotes safety and compliance across the Shire’s coastal areas by engaging with vulnerable community members, responding to local concerns, and enforcing relevant local and State legislation to support a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment. Reporting into the Team Leader – Community Safety, the core responsibilities include: Engaging proactively with the community, including campers, rough sleepers and visitors, to promote safety and wellbeing. Responding to concerns, investigating complaints, and ensuring compliance with local laws, animal management, parking, and litter regulations. Preparing evidence, reports and briefs to support legal and regulatory processes. Collaborating with internal teams, Victoria Police and external agencies to deliver integrated compliance and safety services. Supporting community education initiatives and contributing to risk minimisation and a positive, inclusive workplace culture. About You Demonstrated experience in investigating complaints and undertaking compliance or enforcement activities across animal management, parking, and local law environments. Practical experience in the handling and management of animals, including livestock, in a safe and compliant manner. Strong working knowledge of local government compliance systems, including relevant hardware and software platforms. Proven ability to prepare accurate reports, briefs of evidence, and provide evidence in the Magistrates’ Court. Well-developed judgement, resilience, and communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with diverse and sometimes vulnerable community members to achieve positive outcomes through education, negotiation, and enforcement. Relevant qualifications at Certificate IV in Government Investigations (or equivalent), or demonstrated experience in a regulatory or law enforcement role.
