Your Business Your Business: Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) manages the Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s relationships with major corporate, institutional, and government clients. We offer a comprehensive suite of capital raising, transaction banking, and market risk management products and services. The IB&M Strategy function partners with the IB&M Leadership Team to shape and drive the strategic agenda across the business. Your Team Your Team: The IB&M Strategy team is a high-performing group of professionals with diverse backgrounds in management consulting, corporate advisory, and institutional banking. We collaborate closely with senior stakeholders across IB&M’s business lines and support functions to develop strategy across products, geographies, markets, and portfolios. You will report to the Strategy Executive Director in IB&M. Your Responsibilities Your Responsibilities: As a Strategy Manager you will play a key role in shaping IB&M’s strategic direction. You will work alongside your fellow strategy colleagues and with CBA stakeholders to: Monitor our internal and external operating environment to identify opportunities and challenges across IB&M, and the CBA Group. Lead end-to-end strategy development projects, including problem framing, project scoping, stakeholder engagement, research and analysis, and the delivery of high-quality recommendations to the IB&M Leadership Team. Translate strategic intent into actionable priorities and measurable outcomes through clear and insightful performance reporting. Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders who contribute to, or are impacted by IB&M’s strategy. Contribute to the development of team tools, frameworks, and intellectual property to enhance the team’s strategic capability and efficiency. Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture, including the coaching and mentoring of junior team members. Your Skills & Experience Your Skills & Experience: We’re looking for a strategic thinker with strong analytical and leadership capabilities. You will bring: A minimum of 4 years’ experience in business strategy consulting at a major consulting firm or corporate in-house strategy function, with Financial Services exposure. Strong financial acumen with a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Proven ability to lead complex strategic initiatives using structured problem-solving and hypothesis-driven analysis. Experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders across functions and levels. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distil complex insights into clear, compelling narratives for executive audiences. A proactive mindset, strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
