The team is community based and provides rapid response to resolve mental health crisis, including assertive outreach, care coordination and time-limited therapeutic interventions across community and inpatient settings. The Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician functions within a multidisciplinary team and gives priority to coordination of the recovery of Aboriginal people with a mental illness or disorder, providing expert clinical coordination, leadership and consultancy services in collaboration with consumers. The position sits within the Safeguards CAMHS Response Team (‘Safeguards Team’) and reports to the FWLHD – Safeguards Team Clinical Leader with professional responsibility to the FWLHD – CAMHS District Manager. This is a genuine occupational qualification for this position as described under Section 14 (d) of the Anti‑Discrimination Act, 1977 (NSW) Applicants must meet 1 of the below criteria: Occupational Therapy Level 3: AHPRA reg as an Occupational Therapist & have min 3 yrs clinical experience in CAMHS. Social Worker Level 3: A Bach of Social Work with eligibility for membership to AASW & have min 3 yrs clinical experience in CAMHS. Grad of the Djirruwan Bach of Health Science program & have min 3 yrs clinical experience in CAMHS. Psychologist Yr 4 or above: AHPRA reg, full reg with Psychology Board of Aust & have min 4 yrs clinical experience. Senior Psychologist: AHPRA reg, full reg with the Psychology Board of Aust & have min 1 yr at the 9th yr of service & thereafter point on the salary scale for Psychologist. Clinical Nurse Consultant 1: AHPRA reg as a RN with min 5 yrs FTE post reg clinical experience & post graduate qual’s relevant to area of specialty. Extensive effective experience in assessment, intervention and care coordination, in CAMHS. Key responsibilities Provide direct clinical assessment, intervention, and care coordination to Aboriginal children and adolescents within the Safeguards CAMHS Response Team. Lead rapid response initiatives, including assertive outreach and time-limited therapeutic interventions across community and inpatient settings. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and consumers to design and implement culturally appropriate, person‑centred care plans. Offer expert clinical coordination, leadership and consultancy services to support recovery of Aboriginal people with mental illness or disorder.
