Crisis Supporters (Brisbane & Outlying Areas) Lifeline is committed to bringing hope to those facing difficulties. A trusted national charity, we believe that lives lost to suicide can be prevented. In Queensland, we run our 24‑hour Lifeline Crisis Support line ) through 10 Lifeline centres, providing suicide prevention services with a non‑judgmental, compassionate listening ear. Volunteer Opportunities We are looking for people from all walks of life who can dedicate 4–6 hours a fortnight, either on site, remotely from home (if technical and privacy requirements are met), or a mix of both. You will be part of a close‑knit team of volunteers and paid staff. What We’re Looking For Effective communication and listening skills. Empathy and a non‑judgmental attitude. Digital literacy. Meeting the required selection criteria, including a National Police Check and Blue Card. Completion of the nationally recognised Lifeline Telephone Crisis Supporter Workplace Training programme. Training Requirements Lifeline Crisis Supporter Training is provided on behalf of Lifeline Australia RTO 88036 and is a requirement for this volunteer role. The course fee is $550. The initial Stage 1 training consists of 10 topics delivered in a variety of contexts, with a commitment of 6–10 hours per week (different times and days available). Subsequent to Stage 1, volunteers commit to 9–12 months of phone experience to complete placement and internship before receiving a Statement of Attainment.
