Position Classification: Staff Specialist Employment Type: Temporary Full Time Hours Per Week: up to 40 Duration: Until 20 January 2027 About the Role The successful applicant will join an enthusiastic team of health professionals providing excellent clinical services in Neonatology. It will offer opportunities in clinical practice, teaching and research. The role will involve participation in on‑call roster pro rata to the FTE. Purpose of the Position This role will provide specialist clinical management of infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, postnatal ward and outpatient follow‑up, including high‑risk pregnancy consultation. It also involves providing clinical management and treatment of patients within the NSLHD scope, contributing to teaching, training, research, and quality improvement. Responsibilities • Clinical management of infants at birth in NICU, postnatal and outpatient settings• High‑risk pregnancy consultation• Clinical teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health professionals• Participation in research, evaluation and quality improvement activities Selection Criteria MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Recognised specialist qualification and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), Paediatrics and Child Health Division, Neonatal Perinatal specialist recognition or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation: Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Sound clinical knowledge in Neonatology demonstrated by successful clinical practice in a suitable environment, preferably with experience as consultant neonatologist in a level 5 or 6 neonatal intensive care unit, including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty. Demonstrated clinical, diagnostic and technical skills commensurate with functioning as an independent Neonatology Consultant, including neonatal neuro‑developmental follow‑up. High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment. Demonstrated participation in and commitment to undergraduate, postgraduate, interdisciplinary teaching and education, including research, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management. Preparedness to participate in any on‑call service, including on‑call rosters already existing or established. Evidence of either certification or level expertise to independently perform clinician performed ultrasound of heart and brain in neonates.
