Medical Director Infection Control Salary: AMA Level $210,327 - $309,682 per annum pro rata, plus other allowances. Location: Murdoch Unit / Division: Fiona Stanley Hospital Work Type: Fixed Term – Part Time (FTE) for 5 years with possibility of extension or permanency. Closing Date: 4:00 PM. About the Role This position is a mission‑critical appointment at the intersection of clinical governance, epidemiology, and executive leadership. The Medical Director will shape infection prevention policy, drive innovation, and lead multidisciplinary teams to keep Fiona Stanley Hospital and South Metropolitan Health Services at the national benchmark for infection control excellence. Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership, expertise, and education in all aspects of Infection Prevention & Management within FSFHG and SMHS. Initiate, design, implement, and monitor strategies that reduce the incidence of hospital‑acquired infections in patients. Play a leading role in preparing for and managing outbreaks. Work with staff to ensure that hospitals meet the requirements of the National Safety and Quality Health Services Standards. Lead the provision of specialist medical services to patients as part of an interdisciplinary team. Actively address clinical risks and delays in patient care for individual patients. Educate and supervise junior medical staff and other health workers. Qualifications The successful applicant will be an experienced, strategic leader with a strong background in infection prevention and management, able to drive innovation, communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and support the continuous improvement of hospital safety standards.
