About the Role As a senior investigator, you will lead and manage complex workplace investigations, applying sound judgement, a thorough approach to evidence gathering, analytical capability, strong written and verbal communication and the demonstrated skills and experience in managing multiple complex and sensitive investigations. In safeguarding children and students, experience in trauma‑informed interviewing overlaid with culturally safe practices and an understanding of appropriate techniques for engaging with children and vulnerable people is highly desirable. The role is situated in Brisbane CBD and from time to time you will be required to travel across Queensland to schools and regional offices to conduct workplace investigations. Your Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, conduct and review investigations thoroughly, fairly and impartially so the findings and reports are of a standard that withstands independent review. Assist in the development of recommendations or systemic departmental and workplace change that will prevent or minimise the occurrence of misconduct and other workplace risks. Provide advice to departmental clients and deliver training on investigation methods and practice to departmental staff to facilitate an effective investigative function. Liaise with clients and stakeholders including State and Federal Police, Crown Law, the Crime and Corruption Commission and other government agencies and represent the department at related forums. Undertake research in areas relevant to the functions of the unit, including investigative techniques, misconduct and disciplinary matters, potential breaches of the Code of Conduct and trends in learning and development. Provide advice and prepare reports, correspondence and briefing notes for the approval of the Minister, Director‑General and other clients. Contribute to, and monitor, integrity best practice in the Queensland public sector to ensure that the department practices effective conflict and complaint resolution, and fraud and risk control.
