Job Responsibilities Advises students on academic, career and personal issues; identifies educational and career options and assists with analysis of each option plan to explore alternative majors. Identifies students at risk for academic failure and develops and implements strategies to drive student success; manages and communicates effectively about academic suspension and satisfactory academic progress policies. Identifies options for students to satisfy degree requirements, evaluates and recommends changes to students' program of study, and assists with completion of required forms. Monitors student academic progress, analyzes progress, attends progress reports for instructors, identifies potential needs or problem areas, and refers students to appropriate campus resources while communicating findings. Assists with registration processes, informing students of all services of the Career and Student Success department and other campus-wide resources. Maintains confidential student files and records, including advising folders, mandatory assessments, and student grades. Provides and supports a sound testing and evaluation environment for all students. Participates in each semester orientation process and instructs classes in Freshman Orientation and Academic Probation. Assists in articulating programs in schools, parent groups, faculty, and staff alike in the areas of professional growth for students and the institution. Minimum And Additional Requirements Bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs. Ability to relate and effectively communicate with students, faculty, staff, parents, and the general public. Considerable knowledge of counseling procedures. Knowledge of the policies and procedures affecting the assigned program area(s); basic principles and theories of student development and educational administration. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff. Knowledge of Accuplacer and other standardized testing procedures. Additional Comments Valid driver's license required. Work varies hours including weekends during peak registration periods, routine travel to other sites and moderate physical requirements.
