Together We Thrive: Mentor a Child as a Couple

Are you a passionate person who could provide stability and support for a child in your community? Do you or your family have one day a month to dedicate to making a positive impact in a child's life, as well as your own? Let us connect you to a child in your community who needs a helping hand. Wesley Aunties & Uncles needs kind and compassionate volunteers who can bring connection and fun to disadvantaged children in your community. What's involved? Face-to-face visits once a month at a time that suits both you (the volunteer) and the child/their family. Volunteer 'Aunts' and 'Uncles' in our program give young people the experience and benefits of a stable relationship and an extended family. Together, you will do a range of fun activities and simple everyday things that expose the child to new and different activities, helping build confidence, social, and life skills. As a volunteer in this role, you would be supported by a dedicated case manager from Wesley Mission. Requirements Over the age of 21 Willing to undergo Working with Children Checks and Criminal History Checks Physically fit Able to commit for 12 months Each year, more than 180,000 people find support, care, and compassion at Wesley Mission, and without volunteers like you, this crucial work wouldn't be possible. Our volunteers say they get as much, if not more, out of volunteering as they put in. Come and join our volunteer team and be a positive influence in a young person's life. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply. Commitment Regular - more than 6 months Training Training Provided Time required Our volunteers are required to visit one day each month. Additional Requirements National Police Certificate Working with Children Check Interview and Referee Check are also required.
