We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to join our Bacteriology, Mycology and Parasitology laboratory at VIDRL in a senior role as Deputy Section Head. Your new role Assist the Section Head in overseeing daily laboratory operations, supervising staff, managing scientific activities, and providing deputising support as required. Provide expert advice and perform diagnostic testing for a broad range of bacterial, fungal, and parasitic pathogens. Accurately interpret, validate, authorise and communicate test results. Provide expert advice regarding the interpretation of laboratory results to medical, scientific and public health staff as appropriate. Participate in staff training and ensure that all BMP staff are adequately trained. Develop and implement methodologies underpinned by critical thinking and using appropriate scientific and analytical tools. Assist in the performance of quality control procedures and monitoring of reagents. Maintain accurate records of results of the tests performed. Your success in this role, will be in your ability Have a Degree in Science or equivalent. Have extensive experience in bacteriology, mycology and parasitology and in standard molecular biology techniques. Have diagnostic experience with a collaborative working style. Have demonstrated problem solving and lateral thinking capability> Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated management skills and a passion for continued professional development. Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of external accreditation and compliance frameworks (NATA, OGTR, DAAF, NPAAC) relevant to laboratory operations.
