About the Role You will translate business and technical requirements into well-architected cloud solutions that follow AWS best practices. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will deliver end-to-end platform capabilities while providing hands‑on technical leadership across infrastructure such as code, serverless architectures, container orchestration, and CI/CD automation. You will also oversee AWS governance, ensuring robust cost optimisation, monitoring standards, and security controls, while continuously assessing new AWS services and technologies to drive innovation, performance, and operational efficiency. A Day in the Life Design and review cloud architecture for new features and product components, ensuring scalability, security, and performance. Dive into a wide range of AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, CloudFront, VPC, IAM, ECS or EKS, as well as data processing tools including AWS Glue, Athena, and Step Functions to support implementation, optimisation, and troubleshooting. Assist software engineers in breaking down architectural requirements into deliverable tasks. Contribute to infrastructure as code using Pulumi. Participate in design reviews, providing architectural leadership, AWS best‑practice guidance, and mentorship to engineering teams. About You Experience : 4+ years of experience in software engineering, cloud engineering, or infrastructure roles. More than three to four years in AWS solution architecture or related senior cloud‑focused positions. Education : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience required; a Master’s degree is strongly preferred. Technical Proficiency : Deep hands‑on experience with key AWS services: EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS/Aurora, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, S3, CloudFront, AWS Step Functions, AWS Glue. Strong knowledge of resilient, multi‑AZ architectures, including backup and disaster recovery strategies. Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation, CDK, or Pulumi. Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and secure deployment automation. Experience with containerisation (Docker, ECS, or EKS) and/or serverless architecture design. Industry Background : Experience in SaaS, consulting, technology services, or large‑scale cloud platforms is highly valued. Exposure to the Australian market or client landscape is preferred. Skills : Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex cloud concepts into clear and practical guidance. Effective collaboration skills with the ability to work across teams and mentor engineers. Confidence in making architectural decisions and navigating technical ambiguity. Preferred Attributes : AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional certification. Experience with event‑driven architectures using SNS, SQS, Kinesis, or Kafka. Experience with AWS cost optimisation strategies and cloud governance frameworks. Other Requirements : Must have full working rights in Australia (non‑negotiable). Role is primarily remote, with occasional in‑person attendance for team activities and industry events. Melbourne‑based candidates are preferred; other cities will be considered.
