Cadia Systems are currently seeking a skilled capable SolidWorks design draftsman with senior experience for a role in our Canningvale based offices and fabrication workshop. We manufacture processing equipment for the mining industry, primarily gold based. As a suitable potential candidate, you should have at least 5 years experience as a design draftsman and be capable of designing mechanical equipment for manufacture under the direction of the Engineering Manager. Your capabilities should enable you to take general sketches and concepts, execute them to a preliminary concept for review/revision, provide assembly 3D general arrangement drawings and mechanical detail drawings as well as generating suitable profile detail for ordering and shop fabrication. Your knowledge of manufacturing should assist you in designing both the models, and the final shop floor assembly with fabrication equipment and techniques available in order to execute efficient and seamless concept to construction pathways. You should be an enthusiastic, talented and motivated individual who likes diversity in their role. The role will include liaising with the shop floor trades, troubleshooting fabrication issues, assisting in programming of CNC equipment such as press brakes. You should also have a strong understanding of manufacture with carbon steel and stainless steel plate, sheet metal and structural assemblies. Processes will include bending, rolling, laser cutting, welding, burnishing among others. You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and show a keen interest in developing or executing your existing skillsets and applying them in a timely and efficient manner to your job. You should also have a keen interest in professional development and expanding your range of skills to complement existing ones. Key responsibilities: Developing and drafting new and existing products reporting to the principal engineer and chief draftsman. Delivery of profile cutting drawings and shop fabrication detail. Organizing and maintaining engineering records. Procurement management of product manufacture. Scheduling, manufacturing execution and inspection. Researching new materials and methods of product development. Designing and developing new products and prototypes. Integrating with the workshop tradesman and providing technical input and design information for fabrication. Occasional site based trips. Management of MDR documentation. Depending on skillset and aptitude, extending to customer liaising, through to commissioning. This is a full-time employment for the right person and salary is subject to your work experience, qualifications and employment history. Your ability to work with a small team, including fabricators and independently is tantamount. Candidates of any visa status will be considered for this position. Qualifications & Experience TAFE Diploma of Engineering or Bachelor Degree – Technical or Engineering Design or equivalent. Alternative evidence of process and design drafting experience. Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience. Professional experience with CAD software & design in SolidWorks and 2D AutoCAD. Experience contributing to technical engineering. Ability to execute tasks in a timely efficient manner. Drive to work hours necessary to meet targets should they arise. A drive to find innovative solutions to challenging problems.
