What you’ll do Set the tone for a positive, supportive, and high‑performing culture. Coach staff, develop emerging leaders, create an environment where people feel valued, motivated, and proud of their work. Guide horticulture operations, nursery production, and depot stores, with impact visible across every park and garden in Banyule. Ensure parks, gardens, and open spaces are maintained to a high standard. Supervise gardening and weed‑control teams, oversee nursery operations, coordinate contractors, and manage fleet and equipment. Provide technical advice and operational support to the Parks Presentation Coordinator and department manager. Drive improvements through training, accurate record‑keeping, and better processes and technology. Blend outdoor work, operational leadership, and project delivery, with access to Council’s Leadership Network and genuine opportunities to progress your leadership pathway. What you bring / what we are looking for Someone who enjoys planning and delivery, enjoys designing and refreshing garden spaces, choosing resilient plant palettes, managing seasonal planting and uplift projects, organising work programmes, sequencing tasks, and keeping your team focussed and safe. Draw on your horticultural expertise while growing capability in the people around you. Success requires a Diploma‑level qualification in horticulture, experience supervising teams, confidence in project management, strong communication, organisation, and a desire to make a visible contribution to the community. Pre‑employment requirements Drivers licence. Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC). Functional Capacity Assessment. First aid/CPR certificate. We offer Salary $98,255.03 – $106,820.88 per annum plus super. Permanent full‑time role, hours 7:00am to 3:56pm (Daylight savings 6:30am to 3:26pm) with a fortnightly RDO. 26 weeks of paid parental leave – primary carer / 4 weeks of paid parental leave – partner.
