Client Details Our client, a Japanese semi‑government organisation, is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join their Sydney office as a Research & Liaison Officer. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to international collaboration and policy research between Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. Description Key Responsibilities Coordinate appointments and accompany visits to government agencies in Australia and New Zealand (e.g., sister city relations, multicultural initiatives, delegation support). Conduct native‑level English proofreading of documents prepared by Japanese staff. Research administrative systems and operations in Australia and New Zealand. Provide interpretation and translation (English‑Japanese / Japanese‑English) as needed. Support smooth office operations in a Japanese‑language work environment. Assist with general administrative duties as required. Profile Requirements Language Skills : Native‑level proficiency in English Fluent Japanese language skills (business‑level or higher) Professional Skills : Strong research and analytical capabilities (literature review, interviews, fieldwork) Excellent written communication skills in both English and Japanese Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment Preferred Background : Experience in government, public institutions, universities, or research organisations JET Programme alumni are highly regarded Experience writing academic papers or essays in Japanese (published work is a plus) Bachelor's degree or higher Job Offer Additional Information Working Hours : Monday-Thursday : 9 : 30 AM - 6 : 15 PM Friday : 9 : 30 AM - 5 : 30 PM Flexible start / end time (±1 hour) Occasional after‑hours work (e.g., receptions) included in annual salary Leave Entitlements : Annual Leave : 20 days / year Sick / Carer's Leave : 10 days / year Other Conditions : Occasional overnight travel required Option for one day per week remote work (subject to change) Application Deadline Tuesday, 23 September 2025 Please submit your complete application through the online application platform.
