Reporting into the Head of Legal, Compliance & ESG, the Legal Counsel Pacific will be based at our Notting Hill office in Melbourne, Victoria and enjoy flexibility, a healthy work-life balance, and have the option of hybrid working. You will play a crucial role in providing high-quality strategic support, legal advice, and proactively managing legal risks and stakeholder relationships to enable business growth for Draeger across the Pacific region. Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to: Provide timely and practical legal advice; Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide legal guidance; Conduct timely research, analysis, advice on emerging laws, trends, and their impacts; Deliver training on legal matters to promote awareness and best practice; Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents to protect the organisation; Support corporate transactions by handling due diligence, transaction documents, and legal integration; Oversee litigation and disputes, coordinating with external counsel as required; Design and implement legal policies to streamline practices; Manage the legal budget, inclusive of external legal costs; Advise on corporate governance and risk management; Identify and implement process improvements; Apply a compliance focused mindset across all operations, and; The ideal candidate will be equipped with the following attributes: Bachelor of Law (LLB or equivalent) from a recognised institution; Admitted to practice law in one jurisdiction within Australia, with a current legal practicing certificate (or eligibility to hold); 2+ years’ post-qualification experience in a legal role preferably within a law firm; Proficiency in legal research tools, inclusive of AI and Microsoft Office suite; Ability to provide clear, concise and commercial legal advice; Verification of maintenance of minimum CPD requirements; High ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality; Experience in commercial law and contract negotiation; Well versed with drafting high-quality documentation; Adaptability and readiness to handle multiple, changing priorities in a fast-paced environment; Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn; Exemplary understanding of compliance rules and ability to act as a role model in upholding and promoting compliance standards, and; Excellent attention to detail and stakeholder management, negotiation, analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, and communication A Police Check will be required for this position.
