About The Role The primary focus of the Regional Manager – Indigenous Programs (NT) is to support and oversee the ongoing delivery of AFLNT’s Indigenous programs throughout remote and regional First Nations communities in the Northern Territory. This role is responsible for managing a team based in Indigenous communities across the NT, delivering targeted AFL programs to support community wellbeing outcomes. This role ensures Football Development Leads are set up to succeed through safe work practices, clear work plans, vehicle and housing support, clarity on program outcomes and wellbeing support. Connecting with community stakeholders and partner organisations, this position also plays a vital role in sharing AFLNT’s program plans, outcomes and opportunities throughout communities. We are looking for an experienced and innovative leader who is outcomes driven and passionate about using AFL to drive positive outcomes for Indigenous people and communities throughout the Northern Territory. This position is based in Darwin. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply for this position. Key Accountabilities Provide ongoing proactive leadership and support to AFLNT Football Development Leads to live and work within communities throughout the NT. Assist in developing exciting, engaging and targeted AFL and AFL themed programs that drive strong community outcomes for First Nations communities and people in the NT. Support the team to develop work plans that are safe, consistent and purpose driven to achieve high levels of participation and engagement throughout First Nations Communities across the NT. Provide regular participation and program outcomes to colleagues and external partner organisations. Explore opportunities to connect with like-minded organisations and government agencies to drive innovation, resource sharing and funding opportunities through AFL activities. Complete progress reports and financial acquittals for funding contracts and sponsorship packages to support the remote projects. Ensure all staff housing, vehicles and resources are up to date, well managed and maintained. Provide ongoing support for staff based throughout remote and very remote locations. Travel to remote, very remote and regional communities to support program outcomes, stakeholder engagement and staff development when required and when adds value. Our Ideal Team Member Demonstrated history of proactively leading and managing large remote and geographically dispersed teams, to achieve the greatest outcomes through safe and structured work practices. Strong capability in managing multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritising competing demands. Proven capacity to support staff through complex and challenging situations with maturity, composure and effective judgement. Understanding of life and community contexts within First Nations communities across the NT. Demonstrated cross-cultural awareness and experience working effectively with First Nations communities and people. Ability to communicate and collaborate professionally with a diverse range of stakeholders and partner organisations across various channels. Valid NT Drivers Licence or the ability to secure one and Working with Children’s Card (OCHRE Card) or the ability to obtain one.
