Be among the first 25 applicants JS Careers is currently seeking an experienced Operational Risk Manager to join a leading global financial services firm in Australia on an initial 6 month contract basis. This role will play a key role in advancing the firm’s risk governance, policies, reporting, and risk culture, ensuring alignment with group‑wide requirements and industry best practice. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain the enterprise risk governance framework, including the review and enhancement of relevant policies, standards and guidelines. Design, develop and maintain firm‑wide operational risk management strategies, covering governance structures, policies, processes and supporting technical platforms. Provide high‑quality risk support to the Board, the Risk and Compliance Committee, and other relevant governance bodies, including the preparation of timely and accurate risk reporting. Represent the Risk function on corporate and enterprise‑wide projects, initiatives or policy developments that impact risk governance or operational risk management. Assist in delivering training and capability development initiatives to promote a strong culture of compliance, risk awareness and accountability across the organisation. Monitor and ensure adherence to internal risk policies, procedures and frameworks across all business units. Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders across the business, including senior management and the Board, to support effective risk oversight and decision‑making. Support the embedding of the enterprise risk framework in alignment with the broader Group Enterprise Risk Program. Skills & Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in Risk Management, Finance, Business, Law, or a related discipline. Demonstrated experience (typically 5+ years) in operational risk, enterprise risk, or non‑financial risk management, ideally within funds management, asset management, or financial services. Strong understanding of risk governance frameworks, risk policies, risk assessment methodologies, and control environments. Experience preparing risk reports for senior management, Boards or risk committees. Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to the Australian financial services sector (e.g. ASIC, APRA guidelines, RG and CPS standards). Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex risk issues clearly and effectively. Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with a proven ability to build productive working relationships across all levels of an organisation. High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment. Experience supporting or implementing enterprise risk management systems or risk technology platforms. Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, CFA, or equivalent risk‑related qualifications. Prior experience in a project or change management environment.
