Location: Bundamba QLD Employment: Full‑Time Role Description The Design Manager will sit at the centre of our precast design workflow — ensuring details are buildable, documentation is accurate, and all stakeholders are aligned from early design through to site installation. You will manage communication between engineers, architects, drafters, production and site supervisors to keep projects moving efficiently, safely and on schedule. Key Responsibilities Engineering & Architectural Coordination Review incoming drawings and specifications for buildability, efficiency and conformance. Issue RFI’s, track responses, and close out typical details with engineers and architects. Manage design changes and cost‑related changes, communicating impacts clearly with drafting, project management and production. Drafting Management Track drafting workloads and individual targets to ensure submittal deadlines are met. Monitor drafting output for quality, clarity and sequencing requirements. Coordinate information flow to drafting for revisions and temporary works requirements. Documentation & Control Maintain and update document registers, filing systems and design records. Ensure any production errors/non‑compliance are filed, tracked and reviewed for remedial action. Manage schedule documentation for reinforcing – working with scheduling team. Temporary Works & Site Support Ensure temporary works designs are issued, submitted and returned within turnaround timeframes. Review temporary works for errors, sequencing issues, and installation requirements. Provide design/technical support to installers on install days as required. Production & Procurement Interface Coordinate all design updates with Production and Project Management to ensure seamless production handover. Confirm all items required for procurement are ordered, received and ready prior to production. Manage samples, benchmarks and trial product submissions. Planning & Communication Communicate regularly with the builder through meetings, design updates and RFI close‑outs. Liaise with Transport Management on programmes, installation dates and weekly schedule changes. Prepare and manage IFC drawings for production and ensure they are marked up with pour breaks and installation sequence. Skills & Experience Strong understanding of construction documentation, sequencing and install methodology. Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings. Experience managing RFI registers, design revisions and document control systems. Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders. Strong organisational and time‑management abilities with a focus on deadlines.
