Alchemy Bar & Restaurant—one of Launceston’s most vibrant venues—is seeking an experienced and motivated Duty Manager to join our leadership team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a busy bar/restaurant environment and enjoys leading by example to deliver exceptional guest experiences. About the Role As a Duty Manager, you will play a key role in the daily operations of Alchemy, supporting the Venue Manager and ensuring smooth, efficient, and safe service. You will be responsible for leading the floor and bar teams during service periods, maintaining high standards of hospitality, and ensuring house policies, licensing obligations, and operational procedures are always met. Key Responsibilities Venue Operations & Service Lead and supervise bar and floor operations across service periods. Maintain exceptional customer service standards throughout the venue. Manage opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and reconciliations. Oversee reservations, table allocations, and waitlists to maximise efficiency. Monitor service flow and adjust staffing or processes as needed. Team Leadership Support, mentor, and motivate FOH team members to perform at their best. Train new staff in service standards, RSA, customer service, and venue procedures. Promote a positive, inclusive, and professional team culture. Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with all liquor licensing and RSA requirements. Uphold NHG policies, including health & safety, incident reporting, and security procedures. Monitor patron behaviour and intervene when required to maintain a safe venue. Administration & Reporting Complete shift reports, incident logs, and maintenance notes. Assist with stock control, ordering, stocktakes, and supplier management as needed. Support rostering, training records, and general admin tasks. About You You will succeed in this role if you have: Previous supervisory or duty manager experience in a bar, pub, or restaurant. Current RSA (Essential). Strong leadership with a hands‑on, can‑do attitude. Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work a flexible roster including nights and weekends.
