Health Information Manager/Clinical Coder

Overview Health Information Manager / Clinical Coder. A part‑time role (40 hours per fortnight) with flexibility of working days and attractive salary packaging options. As a member of the Health Information Management led Coding Services team, you will primarily be responsible for the accurate and timely coding of patient records using ICD‑10‑AM, the Department of Health Admission Criteria requirements, and the Australian Coding Standards (ACS). You will also have opportunities to work with clinical and research champions, conduct audits, provide education and contribute to clinical documentation activities related to health information data. All clinical coding is conducted exclusively using our Epic Electronic Medical Record, shared across the four Parkville Precinct health services, providing significant interaction with other services and the central EMR team. Responsibilites Timely and accurate ICD‑10‑AM coding of inpatient episodes. Attendance at coding and casemix related meetings. Involvement in coded data quality and audit activities. Other Health Information Management related activities supporting Health Information Services. Key Relationships Internal: Senior Health Information Manager (Coding), other Health Information Managers, Health Information Services staff, administrative staff, clinical and research staff. External: Department of Health and Human Services, Victorian Cancer Registry, other HIM/coders within the Parkville Precinct. Essential Requirements Tertiary qualification in Health Information Management, or successful completion of an accredited clinical coding course. Significant experience coding with ICD‑10‑AM 11th Edition. Knowledge and proficiency in using 3M Codefinder software. Excellent computer skills, including experience using MS Office suite. Excellent communication skills. Excellent time‑management skills with the ability to prioritise work to meet internal and external timelines/targets. High attention to detail. Ability to work as a team member and autonomously. Desirable Requirements Experience in analysing an electronic medical record (EMR) for coding purposes. Previous experience using a patient administration system. Key Accountabilities 1. Clinical Coding Ensure clinical coding is accurate and completed within stipulated time frames. Ensure current Australian Coding Standards are adhered to. 2. Education Attendance and contribution to in‑house and external coding education sessions. 3. Quality Activities Adherence to quality audit timelines. Attendance and contribution to clinical meetings as required. 4.
