Job Description The Opportunity We’re excited to offer a new opportunity for a pragmatic and approachable Legal Counsel to join our collaborative in-house legal team. Reporting to the Head of Legal, this role supports our national property team with end-to-end legal services across leasing transactions, including new sites, renewals, surrenders, and more : Review, draft and negotiate leasing documents including agreements to lease, incentive deeds, fitout deeds, and storage licences. Provide concise legal advice to property managers and other internal teams on leasing matters such as repairs, bank guarantees, compensation, and redevelopment. Monitor key dates and workflows to ensure alignment with bakery openings and franchise disclosure obligations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of retail leasing legislation and case law across all Australian jurisdictions. Support broader legal functions during peak periods, including franchising and commercial matters. Champion legal awareness and continuous education across the business. Let’s hear about you You’ll be able to utilise your previous experience in the legal and property industry to make suggestions and shape the role for maximum serviceability to your client groups, you will also demonstrate: At least 5 years’ experience as an Australian property lawyer, ideally with exposure to franchise businesses and national portfolios. A current Australian Practising Certificate. Excellent knowledge of retail leasing legislation and property law. Strong attention to detail and ability to balance strategic thinking with day-to-day execution. Confidence working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities.
