About The Opportunity We currently have an exciting opportunity for a permanent, full‑time Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our dynamic Cytology Laboratory in St George Hospital, part of the NSW Health Pathology network. This entry‑level position offers an introduction to cytopathology and exposure to complex procedures that will develop your skills for future advancement. What We Can Offer You Accrued days off in addition to annual leave Generous salary packaging options and other fringe benefits Corporate wellbeing programs, including the Fitness Passport Learning and development opportunities, including in‑house training with RTO My Health Learning What You’ll Be Doing Perform pathology specimen reception duties, including receiving and triaging specimens, patient registration, and request entry Process and prepare specimens for transport or delivery to laboratories for timely, accurate diagnostic testing Qualifications & Experience Certificate III in Pathology Collections, or Pathology Assistance, and/or previous experience in a pathology setting Demonstrated ability to manage tasks in a demanding environment with competing priorities and time constraints Effective communication skills with colleagues, customers, internal and external stakeholders Problem‑solving and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve general issues Willingness to operate and maintain pre‑analytical equipment as required Proficient computer skills with high attention to detail and data accuracy Understanding of confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive information, following relevant legislation and policies Additional Information Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases: This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and comply with NSW Health Policy Directive PD2024_015. All recruits must provide evidence of compliance at their own cost. New to NSW Health Pathology? The preferred candidate may be required to undergo a functional assessment prior to appointment. Working Rights This position is permanent.
