Superintendent - Mining Whitehaven Coal. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mining Superintendent to join our Vickery Mine team. Based at our Vickery Operations and reporting to the Operations Manager, the Mining Superintendent will be accountable for mining operations and ensuring the alignment of activities and tasks with our business goals. The Mining Superintendent is also responsible for providing support to the Operations Manager in delivering planned outcomes. What You’ll Do Actively participate in the implementation and maintenance of the Health and Safety Management System and Plans and ensure compliance with statutory requirements by all staff within area of responsibility. Provide input to the development of operating plans. Direct contractors in accordance with contract and ensure service levels are met. Lead the mining team in execution of the agreed plan. Monitor mine operations and maintain consistency with environmental requirements and consent conditions. Establish and maintain a positive workplace culture. What You’ll Bring Hands‑on mining experience, as a mining operator, supervisor, and superintendent. Strong understanding of excavator productivity and broader operational performance. Greater than 10 years of surface coal mining experience with evidence of senior leadership roles. Mining Supervisor (NSW OCE) or Mining Engineering Manager (NSW MEM) Practising Certificate. Demonstrated ability to ensure statutory compliance and operational discipline. A continuous improvement mindset and strong skills in problem‑solving, planning, and systems-based operations. This role is best suited to a local candidate or someone considering relocation after some time. The position operates on a Monday–Friday basis.
