About the Opportunity Support our National Category Managers and help deliver winning plans and promotions. We’re looking for a proactive Category Assistant to join our Merchandise team at Total Tools. In this role, you’ll provide essential support to our National Category Managers, helping execute category plans, maintain data accuracy, and coordinate promotional activities that keep our stores competitive. This is a full-time role working across our Port Melbourne and Heatherton National Support Offices. What You’ll Be Doing Assist with the execution of category plans, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and maintaining strong supplier relationships Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the product masterfile, ensuring all product details, pricing, and attributes are correct and up to date Coordinate catalogue and digital promotional submissions including administrative support ensuring accurate planning, documentation, and execution Prepare basic analysis for suppliers, category reviews and competitor checks as directed Manage store communications and ensure information is clear and accurate Act as first point of contact for stores regarding category related queries; log, track and resolve queries, escalating when necessary. Build positive working relationships with suppliers and internal teams Qualifications Previous experience as a Category Assistant or similar role in retail Strong Excel skills and comfortable working with ERP systems (Pronto experience would be ideal) Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships across teams Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment Proactive, solutions-focused, and eager to learn Hardware or tools product knowledge is a bonus What’s On Offer ️ Extra Leave: Enjoy a 5th week of annual leave, 2 well‑being days, plus 1 volunteer day annually Career Growth: Endless learning and development opportunities Parental Leave: 12 weeks of gender‑neutral paid leave for primary carers Inclusive Culture: Bronze Employer for LGBTQ Inclusion ⚖️ Neutral Pay Gap: Gender pay gap under 5% (WGEA 2024–2025)
