What we offer Close-knit team Flexible working arrangements Onsite Parking Salary sacrifice Superannuation Employee Assistance Program Position We are seeking an individual with strong analytical capabilities and a passion for the Seafood Industry to join our team as a Research and Policy Officer. This is a new position created to support the Senior Fisheries Resource Access Officer and the Senior Fisheries Policy and Strategy Officer. Responsibilities Conduct qualitative and quantitative research and analysis on complex fisheries issues, identifying trends and evidence-based solutions. Draft high-quality policy documentation, including briefing notes, submissions to government, reports, and correspondence for the CEO and Board. Engage and consult with internal team, external industry partners, stakeholders, government agencies, and NGOs. Monitor and evaluate policy effectiveness and contribute to the development of new strategies that support a safe, environmentally responsible, and profitable industry. Undertake research and industry engagement to formulate informed positions. Qualifications and Skills Policy Analysis: Proven ability to analyze complex policy issues and provide strategic recommendations. Research Skills: Ability to independently conduct research and gather relevant data to inform policy decisions. Effective Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey information clearly. Stakeholder Engagement: Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders, government agencies, and other relevant parties. Analytical Thinking: Proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, and assess the potential impacts of policy changes. Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. Highly Desirable Skills: Ability to analyze, digest and understand complex legislation and regulatory frameworks; knowledge of Western Australia's commercial fishing industry. Essential Qualifications: Tertiary education in a field that fosters strong analytical, research, and communication skills applicable to policy formulation and analysis. A foundation in economics or public policy is highly regarded.
