Base pay range A$160,000.00/yr - A$180,000.00/yr Director - Business Development and Communications If you want your public affairs work to actually change lives, pull up a chair. My client is a global integrated healthcare/communications consultancy working at the pointy end of media, policy and public affairs. Their client portfolio spans major pharma companies advancing treatment across a variety of disease and healthcare challenges from obesity and HIV to oncology and women’s health, - through to some of Australia’s most respected NFPs including Bowel Cancer Australia, Dementia Australia and Cancer Council. The overarching goal is to drive change, shift behaviors and improve public health outcomes for real people. An opportunity now exists for a senior Public Affairs specialist to join this dedicated and high performing team. You’ll help guide strategy, lead complex campaigns, and be the go-to for stakeholder navigation across government, advocacy groups, researchers, clinicians and industry partners. What you’ll do: Shape and deliver public affairs strategies that influence policy and support better access to care. Lead stakeholder mapping and engagement across government, industry and peak bodies. Provide counsel to clients on regulatory shifts, advocacy opportunities and reputation risk. Work alongside communications, digital and social teams to drive integrated, behaviour-changing campaigns. Mentor a growing team and help refine the public affairs capability and offer. What you bring: Senior-level experience in public affairs, government relations, policy or issues management. Experience in a complex or highly regulated sector (health, financial services, energy, infrastructure, etc). Healthcare/pharma experience is welcome but not essential. A knack for reading political winds early and turning them into actionable strategy. Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders, from Ministers’ offices to advocacy groups and clinicians. Curiosity, courage and a genuine interest in contributing to better public health outcomes. Work on issues that matter and see your advice lead to tangible change. Partner with leading global healthcare brands and purpose-driven NFPs. Flexible, hybrid working + supportive senior leadership. Growth path into a key leadership role.
