Downer is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Asphalt Surfacing team based out of Underdale, South Australia. This role will be responsible for the successful delivery of asphalt surfacing contracts, ensuring compliance with Downer standards and a strong focus on Zero Harm. This role offers the opportunity to lead projects that make a real impact on our communities while driving operational excellence and financial performance. Key Responsibilities Manage end-to-end project delivery, including planning, resource allocation, and stakeholder engagement. Ensure safety, quality, and environmental compliance across all project activities. Drive financial performance through robust cost control and accurate reporting. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. What you’ll bring Degree in Engineering, Business Management or related discipline. Proven experience in delivering asphalt, spray seal or civil road construction projects. Strong understanding of the fundamentals of Project Management. Understanding of the tender preparation and negotiation processes. Manage, supervise and schedule the activities of Project Engineers, Supervisors, labour workforce and subcontractors and on-site purchasing and administration staff to ensure coordination and compliance of the construction process. Understanding the importance of Zero Harm work practices. Possess strong skills in planning; organisational and time management. Demonstrated ability to work with people both in a team and as a leader. Advanced computer skills, particularly MS Project and Excel.
