About The Northern Cancer Service The Northern Cancer Service provides comprehensive and integrated cancer care, offering state‑of‑the‑art medical oncology, radiation oncology, and haematology services to a population of approximately 250,000 people across Northern Tasmania. The service operates radiation therapy sites in both Launceston and Burnie. W.P. Holman Clinic Launceston has the capacity to operate up to three linear accelerators. The clinic provides outreach services to our Burnie site. Burnie currently operates as a single‑machine unit; with the recent addition of a second linear accelerator, we are expanding services. Your Role & Opportunities Radiation Oncology Team The W.P. Holman Clinic in Launceston has five Radiation Oncologists and one fully accredited advanced trainee position. A newly qualified Radiation Oncologist (IMG) has recently joined the team for at least the next two years. Advanced Techniques & Specialised Services Stereotactic Therapy Brachytherapy Service: Launceston provides Brachytherapy services for the entire state of Tasmania (500,000 people). The facility is expanding, with opportunities for candidates interested in upskilling in this field. Our modern Brachytherapy Suite was upgraded last year with new HDR equipment, providing exciting new opportunities. Research & Multidisciplinary Collaboration Our clinical trials and research unit, based in Launceston, runs a range of Phase 2 & 3 trials. Details of Appointment Position: Fixed term full‑time, working 76 hours per fortnight, with on‑call duties. Fixed term hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant. Remuneration package Includes a base salary and a suite of allowances. As an illustration, the total package would start at $484,000 per annum for a specialist with 9 years of experience. Base salary: In accordance with the current Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022. Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 – Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3: $216,300 – $310,389 per annum. Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 – $310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022. Allowances Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $28,389 per annum. Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum. Private Patient Scheme: 35% of base salary. On‑call allowance (based on 1 in 6): 6.7% of base salary. Relocation package and accommodation allowance available. Eligibility Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria: Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in the speciality of radiation oncology. Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists.
