Government Relations Advisor Full‑time, fixed‑term position for 2 years with salary of HEW 6 + 17% superannuation and flexible working arrangements. Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, with possible work at other campuses of the University. Overview Supporting the Policy, Strategy & Impact Portfolio’s Government Relations function, the Advisor will engage in relationship management, public‑policy advocacy, and project support for government partnerships, while preparing, researching and analysing policy insights and papers. Responsibilities Relationship engagement and public‑policy advocacy for government partners. Project support and coordination for government‑related initiatives. Preparation, research, and analysis of relevant policy and insights papers. Qualifications Tertiary qualification in communication, social sciences, economics or law. Professional experience and working knowledge of government relations, public policy and/or public communication and stakeholder management. Deep working knowledge of parliamentary inquiry, legislative procedure, budget development, machinery of government processes at state and federal levels. Desirable Excellent written and verbal communication skills aligned with brief preparation. Proficiency in the public‑policy environment relevant to RMIT and ability to assess policy impacts on RMIT’s strategic goals. Proven commitment to collaboration, versatility, flexibility and teamwork. Other Requirements Appointment is subject to passing a Working with Children Check and a National Police Check.
