Senior Financial Accountant

Due to our ongoing growth we are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join the Saunders International team. The role will be based at Saunders International HQ in Rhodes Sydney. The Senior Financial Accountant position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Finance ERP system and ensuring full compliance with statutory financial reporting and taxation obligations. The role requires accurate and timely month‑end close off. THE ROLE Responsibilities Ensure efficient and effective month end close off that meets the deadline as per the timetable. Maintain the integrity of the general ledger including the monthly completion of balance sheet reconciliations for the group. Assist with the half‑yearly and year end statutory audit. Complete and review all general journals. Preparation and review of statutory tax returns. Ensure all returns are lodged and paid within the deadline. Ensure Australian Accounting Standards and policies are adhered to. Ensure all intercompany transactions are reconciled monthly and agreed upon with business units. Liaison with external parties including banks, auditors and ATO. Drive continuous process improvement and system enhancement initiatives. ABOUT YOU Qualified Accountant (CA / CPA) with a strong technical accounting background and a minimum of 8 years of financial accounting experience. Experience in preparation of GST and FBT returns. Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail and a methodical approach. Problem‑solving skills with a strong track record of critical and analytical thinking. Positive can‑do attitude, flexible and adaptable. An appetite to develop or change processes and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the business with a particular focus on the finance function. Previous experience in leading a small finance team. Excellent communication and listening skills. Strong Microsoft Office skills and accounting software package knowledge. Desirable Experience in the Construction or Engineering Industry. Experience using Jobpac ERP and Xero.
