About the Opportunity We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Fire SafetyEngineer to join our team, playing a crucial role in expanding our fire safety offerings in Australia. In this role you will foster client relationships, attract new business, and contribute to the success of the Sener fire safety business. You will develop performance-based fire-engineered strategies and solutions for a wide variety of projects, with focus on technical delivery. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven senior level engineer to contribute to impactful projects while growing within a dynamic team We are open to considering candidates based across Australia, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and remote options available in Perth. Role Responsibilities Assisting the Fire Safety Engineering leadership team with delivery of detailed project designs. Mentor junior Fire Safety Engineers to support their learning, development and growth. Interpret and understand a client's Project Scope and Technical Requirements for a range of projects. Lead on delivery of detailed design, calculations, reports and specifications for Fire Safety Discipline interfaces with other discipline scopes (e.g. architectural, MEP, structures etc.). Provide detailed Fire Safety technical advice. Work with other Senior Engineers, liaise with M&E, architects, structural and civil disciplines to communicate Fire Safety requirements and develop fully coordinated design outcomes. Participate and contribute to peer review and multi-disciplinary review sessions for design assurance purposes. Where required, managing subcontractors, quality assurance and client feedback and ensuring effective communication of any changes / modifications Manage compliance with Project Interfaces Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design Participate in safety in design workshops and actively implement outcomes. Seek senior Fire Safety leadership support as technical authority for detailed discussions with clients and relevant project stakeholders. Actively promote digital engineering principles and follow project workflows / procedures for : front-end design, detailing and submission. Understand the design delivery program and manage competing priorities to ensure design packages are delivered on time and to the appropriate standard. Consult with relevant team members to ensure that design outcomes are constructible. Report design delivery progress and constraints, manage addressed design hours and communicate shortages to managers. Strict management of Interface deliverable milestones and observance of agreed review timeframes. Consider constructability in all design outcomes are constructible. Required Experience Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Masters in Fire Safety engineering. Minimum 8 - 10 years’ experience working on fire safety designs for major infrastructure projects. Working knowledge of relevant Australian and International Standards. Working knowledge of the Building Code of Australia. Ability to adapt to the use of international standards and building codes. Experience in the delivery of detailed design and documentation for a major infrastructure project. Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Experience and detailed technical understanding of infrastructures projects, specifically tunnelling, underground structures, stations, associated ancillary infrastructure and fire safety systems. Proven ability to manage a team in the design delivery phase. Ability to manage priorities and set clear expectations for direct reports. Experience in mentoring other engineers in this field. Experience managing and reporting against the integrated program schedule including Earned Value determination. Management of Design budgets and forecasting of resources & costs. Dedication to ‘Safety in Design’ principles. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Demonstrated experience in managing and delivering design solutions. Demonstrated ability to lead, with good influencing, motivating and delegation skills. Additional Preferred Experience Chartered Professional Engineer, CPEng (or similar). Previous design experience on Australian-based major infrastructure projects. Previous relevant role for road, rail and bus infrastructure projects. Experience using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Egress Modelling Software and other relevant fire safety engineering tools. Highly valuable Ansys Fluent, Open Foam, Pyrosim, Pathfinder and SFAIR experience. Design experience using BIM and digital engineering tools. Thorough understanding of constructability issues.
