SCV The Supreme Court of Victoria is the highest court in Victoria and comprises the Court of Appeal and the Trial Division. The Court deals with major criminal and civil matters, plus appeals against decisions of lower courts. About The Role The Honourable Associate Justice Mary‑Jane Ierodiaconou seeks a highly ambitious, legally qualified individual to be her Honour's next associate. Post‑admission experience is highly desirable. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain invaluable mentorship from the Principal Associate Justice and be exposed to complex interlocutory applications and trials. Her Honour sits predominantly in the Common Law Division and manages a small generalist case load, presiding over the following specialist lists: Personal Injury Dust Diseases Institutional Liability Trusts, Equity, Probate Employment and Industrial Law Property The successful candidate will commence in February 2026. These are busy judicial chambers, so you must be adept at working in a fast‑paced environment, meeting firm deadlines, and be able to demonstrate excellent organisational, research, time‑management and drafting skills. Additionally, the role requires strong attention to detail, superior written and oral communication skills, personal qualities suitable for liaising with the profession and public, and a strong academic record. Duties Include Administrative tasks, including maintaining court records and preparing material for use by the judge in court; Clerking in court and drafting orders; Legal research; Proofreading and fact‑checking; Assisting with the production of judgments.
