Tax Compliance Manager

Optiver is seeking an experienced and energetic tax professional with a passion for the financial markets to join its APAC Tax compliance team based in Sydney. The successful candidate will apply their strong technical skills in a dynamic and fast moving organisation to advise and enable the business to navigate through the complex APAC tax environment. WHAT YOU’LL DO Managing direct and indirect tax compliance and reporting obligations for Australian legal entities, including income tax, withholding tax and fringe benefits tax. Preparation and review of annual corporate income tax return for the Australian tax consolidated group, including calculations and disclosures for subsidiaries, permanent establishment and selected entities across the APAC region. Reviewing monthly tax provisions and annual tax note disclosures included in the financial statements. Managing indirect tax compliance for entities within Australia including review and lodgement of business activity statements. Driving process improvements including identifying and implementing automation and AI solutions for compliance obligations. Managing key stakeholders within the business and externally such as tax advisors and auditors and prepare responses to queries from tax authorities. Keeping up to date with changes in local legislation and other developments such as the OECD etc. Sharing knowledge, present training, and provide guidance to build awareness of tax requirements. WHAT YOU WILL NEED Optiver needs our next Tax Compliance Manager to be ambitious, eager to learn about Optiver’s business and develop their technical capabilities: Minimum 7 years of experience in tax (consulting or corporate). Relevant professional qualifications (CA/CPA/Master of Tax) preferred. Experience with direct and indirect taxes in our APAC jurisdictions will be beneficial. Financial services experience and an interest in trading and global markets will be beneficial. Strong ability to conduct independent research. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong growth mindset and desire to develop your career. Proactive and ability to take ownership of deliverables.
