Job Type: Permanent position | Full time position Job Description Target Business Services Location: 72 Agar Drive, Truganina, VIC 3029 Salary: $80,000 plus 12% superannuation Position: Full time, Permanent Our client, Fortune Metal Pty Ltd trading as Fortune Fencing is a Melbourne-based manufacturer and distributor of BlueScope Colorbond steel fencing, gates and accessories. Fortune Fencing design, manufacture and supply Colorbond, pool, garden and security fencing and custom gates from its manufacturing facility in Truganina — and is looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Trades Worker to join the growing team. Worker you will be responsible for accurately marking out, cutting, forming, assembling and finishing sheet-metal components used in fencing, gates and related products. You will work from technical drawings and job specifications to produce high-quality parts for both residential and commercial projects — supporting the manufacturing and installation teams to deliver durable, fit-for-purpose fencing solutions made from genuine Colorbond steel. Key Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings and job specifications to determine materials and processes. Check sizes, gauges and tolerances of steel stock and components against specifications. Cut, punch, drill, bend and form sheet steel (including Colorbond) using hand and powered tools, shearers, press brakes, rollers and folding machines. Set up and operate fabricating machines and computer-assisted metalworking equipment; develop efficient nesting/layouts when required. Weld, trim, deburr, grind and finish assemblies to a high standard; inspect parts and make adjustments to meet quality specifications. Assemble gates, posts, rails and panel components ready for dispatch or installation. Perform routine preventative maintenance on machinery and report faults. Follow safe work practices, use PPE and help maintain a clean, organised workshop. Cooperate with installation crews and warehouse staff to ensure correct handover of finished goods. Skills & Experience Minimum 1+ year experience in sheet-metal fabrication and a relevant trade qualification. Proven ability to read technical drawings and produce parts to fine tolerances. Hands-on experience with press brakes, shears, rollers, punching and common metal fabrication tools. Strong attention to detail, a practical approach to problem solving and a positive, team-focused attitude. Commitment to workplace safety and following standard operating procedures.
